Well, the “Management” at Deere insist on trying the Apple method of being as proprietary as possible, where MF has never succumbed to that mindset.
Serves JD right.
The “Management” at Juan Deere sealed their own fate years ago, when they decided to employ what were previously common repair and maintenance items such as bearings, and begin to Juan Deere-specific parts. This, on top of the Green-paint-surcharge that has existed for decades – and you could drive down the street to Massey, Allis, or Case-New Holland for the identical part. Then Juan Deere felt they were not making a large enough annual record profit, and then aggressively began to outsource major portions of their parts (bearings normally were manufactured in the USA, Japan, Germany and the Czech Republic, now they are from Mexico, China and India – and the life cycle of those parts have dropped dramatically) and also began to outsource the writing of the new software programming.
Despite constant record profits, they continued to outsource much of their product – AND NOT ONCE HAVE THEY EVER PASSED ON ANY SAVINGS TO THE END USER!
Juan Deere’s loss in the Court Case for farmers to have the “Right to Repair” was a major blow to the Management’s ego and nothing else.
Worse, the “Management” t Juan Deere honestly believed the loyalty of farmers would last forever. They failed to remember loyalty goes both ways.
They have moved manufacturing out of the USA, almost all parts are made off the continent, they have threatened to void warranty even if a non-Juan light bulb is installed, they dislike anyone other than them performing maintenance or repairs on machinery THEY sold to customers.
It was a good run while it lasted, but Juan Deere should die. The sooner the better.
They’ve been over-rated since the sixties.
I agree, but I have a neighbor who thinks that them is fightin’ words. I have found that many John Deere owners are the most insecure people on the planet and cling to their Deeres like a two year old to a teddy bear that’s in tatters. I’ve driven Deeres and don’t like them. I’ve owned Allis Chalmers, New Holland and Case IH and found that I like them better but Deere guys will not even give them a try.
