There has been ice on my windshield for the last three days in the mornings.
I was working on a piece of equipment inside the warehouse yesterday with the doors wide open for about an hour and a half and I had to stop twice to go find a heater to warm my hands up, even with those rubber/fabric gloves on.
I couldn’t feel my thumbs anymore.
We have some little disposable pocket warmers I will be loading up on here in the future.
Since the MSM has an agenda and only pits out what the Commie Fucking Bastards in charge want you to hear, I haven’t seen much news about how cold it’s getting across the pond yet but I can guarantee we will be.
Maybe they will start hunting corrupt politicians to keep warm.
In other news, I saw a picture yesterday out of South America where they are pissed off and protesting their corrupt elections. THREE MILLION PEOPLE in one crowd.
I sure hope they had enough Porta Potty’s.
Well, I am going to cut this short, I gotta go start the truck and let it run so I can get even a little heat out of it before I get to work. Even though I replaced the thermostat last year, when it gets cold, that truck won’t get warm until after fifteen minutes of driving. Just about two miles from work it will start getting some heat. This is after I cut some cardboard and covered up a section of the radiator.
I suppose I would rather have it this way than over heating.
It’s always something.
Keep your heads and your asses down, your eyes and ears open.
Another thing I can guarantee you, there is plenty more fuckery coming our way.
Those Europeons will be cold, they will be hungry, they will be poor, but it warms their heart everyday to know that they ignored Orange Man Bad’s warning to not depend on and trust Russia. Hey, gotta do what your government and media tells you to do.
and they going to be pissed as hell at the clowns here for blowing up the pipeline.
when it comes out, and it will .there will be hell to pay.
there are already people in the street over there. some as big and as stupid as blowing a pipeline can never be covered up.
down south, they in the streets because they KNOW the election there was rigged
to fuck them. the people here are too stupid by and large to know we are never going to have a free and fair election again. just drink your beer, watch the fucking tube, and everything will turn out just fine. and now the fed wants to try digital money ? yeah, I sure that is going to work out just fine for them.
I guess we see how well the country is by the new year. if there any diesel or heating oil. or gas. I wonder if they have a plan to get food into the cities another way without using trucks ?
I really don’t see this having a good ending anytime soon.
anything you want/need, you best get it while you can.
I think all of here appreciate the situation of digital “money”. As soon as it happens, we gonna be screwed like a tied-up dog.
Dave it’s been claimed the Brits did it, I do not know but the schadenfrued is going to be good. Been in a 9 day stretch of a.m. sub freezing temps around here. Tomorrow will be the worst then back to normal. La Niña can be nasty.
My 62 F100 used to be that way. It would stay cold for a 1hr commute in L.A. traffic.
Decided to replace the thermostat again. Found I had installed the first one upside down. After that it would heat up nicely in about 5 minutes.
Do you still have it? I have a 61,it’s my daily driver for the most part.
EuroPeons are chopping down their forests, stealing other’s firewood and will be burning their furniture before it’s all over. So progressive….
And the L*rd shall provide. Went shopping at the pawn yesterday. Bought a N.I B. Coleman Black Cat, catalytic heater, for $30.
Instantly defrosts my frozen toes (35° in van, this morning). And dries out my sleeping gloves nearly as fast.
Anyone subjected to the elements, a catalytic heater is the ticket. Minimum of six square inches of open ventilation, in confined space. And light the unit outdoors (small quantity of unburned propane during ignition process). Burn for ten minutes, before throttling back, to low setting.
How much flow are you getting through the heater core? The thermostat is the first step; easy and cheap, but maybe the trouble is beyond that. I’ve replaced a couple over the years, and flushing one is not the answer. Even if a flush works, it just leaves a very weak, corroded core to spring a leak later.
Another issue we’ve both had before is a radiator cap not holding pressure. I remember the time you were fighting an overheating problem, and a new cap solved that one.
Dad had a Volkswagen 411 square back. It was downhill to work and never heated up on cold days. JC Whitney has a white gas heater he put in. Happy cold weather.
On my ’88 Chev pu, I prolly replaced thermost 6 times.
Hell…even have a freeze warning into the upper to mid 20s tonight here in NW Florida.
We ain’t use to this shit.
rechargeable electric hand warmers, around $20 from amazon. The Mrs. loves them. Some also double as battery banks for phones, etc.
Dunno bout Deathray, but we’ve been below 0 more than a few times the last couple weeks. I’m a bit north & west of him. Gonna be interesting to watch the urbanites deal with this. Pass the popcorn….
Phil, what is a heater? I don’t know if my car has one, I know it has an aircon, used every trip.
In my chunk of Yoorup it’s pissed down for the past three days. The country is being flooded with illegals, fuel prices are stupid, food prices are rising, what’s laughingly called the guvmint haven’t a clue and we’re supposed to send money to those making a choice between neo-nazis and soviets. I might be suicidal but it’s too much fucking bother . . .
Dear Mr. Grouchy:
As to the heat issue:
1) Did you really put in a 192 degree thermostat? Did it go in the right direction? Did you check it for operation before installing what most likely is a piece of fine chineesey eng and mfg?
2) Is the rad cap as said before holding pressure?
3) Which hose line are hot to the touch? Is there actual water in the radiator? Should check this first. How about antifreeze? Ice blockage in heater lines is a thing of beauty.
4) Are the heater lines routed correctly? Two lines routed to the low pressure side will get you no flow, so no heat. If they are both hot then look for this condition.
5) The valve that allows water to flow into the heater core could be blocked or corroded. Check for kinks in the lines too. Rubber and metal ones.
I learned my wrenching in the great white north (Mpls). Heat is life up there.
Three rules of the can get home club. Install the biggest effing battery that will fit, new antifreeze every year, anti-seize your lug nuts. Rubber hoses every three years and a new used car gets them all replaced. Broken down in BFE at 25 below will get your ass stone dead killed.
