My utility company is already trying to pass along the costs…
This very same futures price (Natural Gas Feb 2022, ticker NGG22) was $6.40 in early October and $6.15 in late October. View the price chart for a 6 month period and it’s all over the place (high 6.40, low 3.56). Never trust a tweet.
I use propane here at my place and it has also gone up. I paid about 3.72 per gallon last week, a couple months ago I think it was 3.25. Last year it was 2.67 or something like that.
I pay for my NG on a budget plan, building up a surplus over the warmer months, then using up the surplus over the winter. Last month, January’s bill, was already negative. Usually, by May I’m even. I can imagine what this month’s bill will reveal after the recent cold spell when my furnace seemed like it was running non stop.
