We have six inches of powder out front, I had to fill the coffee carafe up with cold water to get the truck door unfrozen and opened up.

I have my heavy duty cold weather suit dug out, my lunch box, cigarettes and coffee sitting here and I’m waiting for the truck to warm ip enough to get the ice off the windshield.

A couple miles East of here got hammered with over a foot of snow and I can’t wait to try and get out to the roads to see how much packed snow and ice is out there waiting.

Along with thousands of stupid fucking morons.

I have the chains in a box and I’m getting ready to throw everything in the old Chevy and give it a go. I would dearly love to try out the new 4X4 but it’s not insured yet and I don’t want to take that chance.

What kinds of misery are y’all having to deal with?

I know it’s supposed to be completely fucked from here to Maine.

It even snowed in Las Vegas yesterday.

      • You can also use Dow Corning #4 silicone grease if you want to go old school. I used to use it to lubricate spark plug leads when fishing them through the conduit on aircraft engines.
        I always park with the driver’s door on the lee side when freezing rain is coming. I learned that after I ripped a door handle off my Mustang II in the ’80s.
        The forecast is for -15F here tonight.

  2. I live in the southern half of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, right on the lake. It is referred to as ‘the banana belt’. We got 6″ so far but projected for a total of 12″. I was able to get up early and snow blow myself and the disabled vet neighbor. They are working hard to keep the roads mostly cleared. I let the truck warm up for an extra twenty mins, because I had already gotten another inch by the time I was done. When I get home, I get to do it all again and tackle the berm the city leaves at the end of the driveway.

    • Here in the north half a few miles from our lake a bit more snow and 12degrees and very windy and drifting. This ought to run a bunch of those FIBs out of here that showed up last summer . —ken

      • It ain’t a winter until there’s better than 300 inches. I moved southwest for work and ended up with sunshine in winter instead of the Keweenaw Cloud.

        Who knew -20° and sun beat darkness and a couple hundred inches of snow?

  3. A month and a half ago we had to put the chains on the loader tractor and the skidsteer to negotiate the ice we had from freezing rain and snow thawing and refreezing. Finally dropped the chains off of the skidder since most has melted off, but the ruts are so deep from the dirt thawing and freezing again a trip around the farm in the skidder is a bone jolting joy. Another couple of inches of snow yesterday and last night and 1 below this morning here in sunny NE Nebraska.

  4. What am I dealing with? East Tennessee, the temperature this morning is 69 degrees, cloudy with a rain possibility, AND this seems to be the pollen capitol of the world, so the wife and I are down with sinus infections. Our olfactories have turned into glue factories. But there is a gun show this weekend and I’m going if I have to crawl there.

    • Tough going Phil and Bill in Tenn. Here in middle west Tennessee, it rained pretty hard last night. Now It’s 70 and sunny. No pollen (yet). Pretty awful here, surrounded by nice hillbilly, redneck, farmer, raayyycisss, folks. I would hate them, except they’re all so helpful and polite.

  7. Started snowing here at about 5:40 yesterday evening, and 12 hours later there’s 6″ on the deck with more snow coming down.

    Yesterday I read that Washougal, where I used to live, had 8″, so I’m sure they’re well over a foot by now.

    Was going to take the car to Kuni to have a safety recall resolved (PCV Valve Heater), but there is no way I’m driving 10 miles on TV Highway with the morning idiots and then driving a Kuni loaner home.

  8. Mid Vancouver Island has an slight dusting and that means the fags wont be driving their electric mobiles. The pin heads at environment Canada are always trying to scare the shit out of the sheep with the ‘models’, and therefore are a day late and an dollar short in their prognosticating.

  9. Temps here hit 13 below a few days ago and busted the pipes in at least a couple of businesses in town. Right now its 23 degrees, we have about 8 inches on the ground and it is snowing pretty good out there. Should get 3-4 more inches before it pulls out. They keep the roads mostly clear here but used some 4 wheel drive on the wife’s rig yesterday to take the SIL to her cancer doc appointment. 6500 feet up in the White Mtns of AZ East of Phoenix

    • Phoenix Metro Area – 11:30 am – 55 right now with a predicted high of 59 and more rain tonight.  So long as the wind isn’t blowing like it was Tuesday night, things will be just fine.  I was sure the wind was peeling the siding off the house, and there were no more shingles left.

      It looks like, unless you would want to head to Commiefornia, we in the valley are snowed in.

  10. Here in West Texas, it’s always 60… 60 blooming mph w/dirt. Not dust. Dirt. Shit gets in your teeth, ears, down your back to the crack of your ass. I can’t believe we had to move back here. Even the jackrabbits and skunks were smart enough to go somewhere else.

    • I’ll never forget when I was in training in the Air Force, a dust storm blew up across west Texas. When it got to us in Wichita Falls it rained down through it. Left a half inch of mud on EVERYTHING. Good times….not!

  11. Clearwater Florida, it’s 79 out back & sunny at 1030 in the morning. I read all the other reports here… that’s why I’m in Florida for the winter.

  13. It was about 95 yesterday. I don’t want to even consider another summer like last summer down here. I think high 80’s today.

    No flying dirt like Texson. I’m sure I still have some of that in me from when I was a kid. If you had chapped lips and put on Carmex, you were gonna have a rough time with all the grit that stuck to it.

    We had a nice visit. Will speak some more today very nice couple.

  15. About a foot in north central Michigan.
    Couple hours with the snow blower to clear the drive.

    I’ll go back with the yooper scoop to get every last bit of it after a change of clothing and a break.
    Fell hard a couple times on a small hill.
    Neighbor had his garage hit by the plow.
    Feeling old at 58.

  16. SLC here. We got a foot of snow yesterday, a couple inches this morning. Temps below freezing. Snowpacks in the mountains are well over the yearly average. If we get a fast warm spell, downtown SLC is going to be under water.

  17. Eastern Washington got some snow, most of it blowing around. By Friday it’ll be above freezing and we will get slush-freeze-slush all over again. Down near zero last night, but getting warmer. At least the plants aren’t screaming out of the ground yet, only to be frozen solid by the temps.

    The usual idiots on the road, minus yours truly because I stayed home, snug and warm. Being retired has its benefits.

  18. -20 in western WY this morning. Most of the snow went around us and we only ended up with 3 or 4 inches.

  19. Woke up to 35* and rain here in southern California, with the snow level literally a couple of hundred feet above my rooftop. The foothills around my valley are uncharacteristically white. It’s gonna be like this for the next week according to the weather guessers. We need the rain for now, and the snowmelt for water during the summer, so this is GREAT! All we need now for perfection is to see Nancy Pelosi’s nephew, Gavin Newsom, and his cronies in the State House pushing up daisies in the desert somewhere!!!

  20. Woke up to 26 deg. here in “North” California. The transplants around here were going apeshit over the possible snow. So far this latest has been underwhelming, maybe later today. Going to load up the Rubicon with some beer and my trusty chainsaw and head for the mountains.

  21. We got something like 14 inches total, over three days, Twin Cities. The side streets looked bad this morning. I didn’t see anything but trucks and vans drive past until noon. Got the shoveling done, but at half speed. We’re running out of easy places to put the snow, and I’ve been pushing yooper scooper loads halfway across the yard.

  22. 85, sunny and low humidity here in Port St Lucie FL. Gotta be careful by the ponds as it is the height of gator mating season.

  25. I live in central New England. We got about 3″ of snow overnight topped with drizzle. That’s all frozen solid now where it hasn’t been plowed or shoveled. My front stoop is iced over. Kinda tricky going out for a smoke. Cleaned out to about five feet in front of the garage door so that they plow guy could clear the rest of that space. Then I went out and cleaned up after him. There’s an incline of about 6″ in ten feet that, if it gets icy, makes backing into the garage without hitting the sides of the garage door interesting.

    It is currently 25 degrees coming down from a high of 31. Forecast for overnight temps is single digits as the front heads east.

  26. Woke up to about 6 -8″ in the road, but was changing over to rain/sleet.
    I was hoping the neighbor would have held off plowing. Now it is smooth and packed, getting soaked by a freezing drizzle. Normally, I would have waited until it changed back over to snow to plow. Now I’m going to have to get sand. My friggin’ driveway is too long to sand. Always something.
    Friday night is supposed to get down to -10, or so.

  27. At 7500 feet, here, yesterday we were supposed to get 10 inches of snow and 60-80 mph gusts. We got 1/2 an inch and 40 mph gusts. Thank God. In other news the 2020 and 2022 elections were mostly rigged and also stolen. Guess we just have to vote more harder in 2024.

  30. Hit 80 here in NW Florida today and will remain at, nearly, or above for the next week or so.
    March is when we usually have to worry…that’s when Mother Nature’s fuckery usually starts.

  33. high of 64 today in the Pa highlands. dropping into the 20’s tonight
    high of 30 something tomorrow. might be a good thing. lots of bugs around today
    only to DIE tomorrow in the cold. funny when we left in the am it was in the low 40’s and warm up fast. pick up some Merrell hiking boots today at sportsmans warehouse. they on sale at 52% off. then add the vets 5% and it not bad.
    they fit rather well, just have to see how well they last.

    • It’s become an old cliche- “They want us dead”. Well… These pieces of shit may send their henchmen out to do their bidding. I have enough resources to get me killed in the process. It won’t come cheap for them. My five year plan is to wind up in a mass grave of fighters. Like I say, these pukes will get a bunch of us but it won’t come cheap.

    • I have two pair of Merrill’s, a low cut and a regular hiking boot. The only complaint I have about them is it feels like the lugs on the sole’s are on the inside with the low cuts.

      I had to put a gel insole in them to caress my tender footsie’s. Other than that, good rugged footwear.

  34. Been in the 60s around Cincinnati for several days. Colder tomorrow, then warming again. We’re taking advantage of the temps to get LOTS of outdoor work done–prepping the gardens for this spring.

    We spent over 20 years in central NY state. Do NOT miss that weather one little bit!

  35. Sorry for your weather woes Phil. Here in our neck of the woods on the east coast, it was warm enough late this afternoon to hop on the Harley and meet up with some biker friends at the local tavern for a pint and some dinner. Good times!

  36. Yeah it was -25 here in Wyoming today and we have had over 70 inches of snow this winter. Haven’t seen the ground since first week of December. Blizzard warning is over at least. So your “Winter” sounds nice

  37. SE OK – It was 74 yesterday & wind outta the south. I was in a t-shirt. Today, North wind gusting about 20 mph and Low 40’s. Wouldn’t be so bad but for the dang wind..
    No worries, supposed to be back to mid 70’s by Sunday. We have had some strangely warm weather. We are starting to see green in our pastures. Cows are chasing the new growth. We could still see snow and ice before mid April.

  39. South Central Maine 0 degrees the next 2 nights ~ 5 inches yesterday, Tuesday 3- 6 inches. Winter hasn’t given up yet. I wonder what Europe is experiencing…and if Putin has them burning furniture. Have to check. Stay warm.

    • Moosehead, Maine- About the same, except we got -6 degrees this morning. SNow hasn’t built up due to random warm days, and I have ten gallons of maple sap already. (due to wunderground warning me about the warm days)
