    • No, I could suggest to a doctor, I was a behavioral therapist, not a psychologist who can prescribe some medications if they were additionally trained.

      • CederQ, I think you were talking about psychiatrists. A psychologist can not prescribe. A psychiatrist can because they are MDs or DOs. They are talking about adding a pharmacology specialty for psychologists who want the privilege.

        • No, some psychologists can prescribe a narrow band of prescriptions, like I said they have to have additional training to do so. Most states don’t allow it, but some do: As of now, psychologists can prescribe medication in seven states: New Mexico, Louisiana, Illinois, Iowa, Idaho, Colorado, and Utah. These states have granted prescriptive authority to licensed psychologists who have completed additional training in clinical psychopharmacology.

          • Interesting…when my daughter was doing her internship and postdoc in Ohio, it would have been helpful if the clinic she worked at could have done the prescribing because almost every time they referred someone for meds, the client came back with a diagnosis of bipolar.

            • Bi-polarism, what psychiatrist love to diagnose so their 56′ Cape Hatteras yacht is paid for. Everybody is bi-polar, it is a normal condition in people, dogs, cats, llamas, etc… most people have adequate coping skills that mask or alleviate the wide spread. It is an easy diagnoses for them and a huge money maker to boot.

  1. There’s nothing wrong with me or the rest of the denizens hereabouts, it’s the rest of the woke assholes that need … something to adjust their attitude.
