You lucky bastard! I had a 1969 Philco AM radio in my dash.
You had a car to drive?
I didn’t have shoes to wear to school until the sixth grade. When I was in high school none of us had cars to drive, but it was necessary for me to leave school and take on a man’s work just after I turned fifteen, anyway.
I couldn’t afford a car until I was nineteen, but it was a’67 VC Valiant Wayfarer ute with a hot 225 Slant Six donk, so it made up for the wait. It was a 3-speed manual, column shift, made by Chrysler Australia at their plant in Adelaide, South Australia. The VC was their fifth model run in Australia and many were exported to New Zealand, South Africa and to the UK (“Good lord, a V-eight motor!).
I did have a relay added for a two-speed windscreen-wiper, then later added an AM radio. Flash Murri, me.
I had to walk backwards in all kinds of weather, both ways.
Mine was also a three on the tree manual transmission with no power steering, no power brakes, no power windows, and no AC. And, the only reason it had a cassette player in it was because I upgraded the AM radio to an AM/FM/cassette stereo myself, including adding speakers in the back deck.
^THIS^
55 cheby 210. 3 on the tree, but it was better because it had an eight track.
I didn’t get a cassette deck until my third car. Check your privilege and don’t hate on us poors.
