I’ve done that. How? I don’t have a clue, but was glad I purchased some knee pads before I started the project. I had the feeling I hadn’t held the new piece of trim completely in the right position. From that point on, I probably looked like I had OCD when I was placing, and measuring.
Hahaha! I’ve done that 100 times! Tired, holding not in the middle, and glance at the other end. Don’t see the wood chip, nail, whatever blocking the wood from meeting the other end. Looks fine! Measure once, cut twice, get a new piece of wood is pretty much my story!
From my not so fondly remembered days in construction: I once cut an entire row of rafters 6″ too short. Damn, it’s hard to stretch a 2 X 6.
Well, it was already too short to begin with.
He had a fraction of an inch too long before, and after cutting off at most 1/2 inch it was 2, maybe 3 inches too short?
Yup, been there; done that. Not only building stuff, plumbing, but dress-making and quilting, too. Lots of scraps…
So Judy, ever make a dress that was supposed to be knee length and ended up a micro mini?
Measure twice cut once?
Cuss three?

I would bet a large chunk of my retirement (about 5 cents) that EVERYbody that reads this blog has done it repeatedly during his/her lifetime.
This reminds me of reading the recipe, adding ingredients, only to find I read the measurement wrong. “That’s four teaspoons, you idiot!!”
I prefer metric. I grew up with both.
“I’ve cut this dam board 3 times already and it’s STILL too short!”
Measure twice cut once. Ph#k that. Been there done that more than once
Story of my life!!! Remember folks, measure once, cut twice…
