Why the ridges were there in the first place and what this meme implies.
The ridges were there to prevent coin clipping when the coins were still made of silver. The Federal Reserve doesn’t make the coins, the US Mint, under the Department of Treasury does. No idea what magic inference is supposed to be made.
It means the metal the coin is made from is not worth clipping, melting down and selling. Silver coins had inherent value but the current nickel-plated copper is worthless as bullion. I forget which Roman emperor de-based the denarius by having solid silver denari melted down and alloyed with lead so the Imperial treasury could mint more to pay for his projects but his de-basing the currency was a contributing factor to the decline of the Roman Empire.
A certain tribal group was known for “clipping coins” and the ridges were there to prevent that. Back when coins were still made from precious metals. Given the control that same certain tribal group appears to have over our president, I’d say he is just making it ok for them to start clipping coins again.
I’m sorry that makes no sense to me.
If the coins aren’t precious metal, why would they want to clip them? It’s just worthless metal dust. If they want to go back to silver coins, why would they take away the easy way to see if someone’s been stealing the silver?
Maybe I was a little dense. The original reason for clipping coins is no longer relevant as the coins are now base metal. But at the time, it was a way to keep jews from clipping coins. Since the implication is that Trump is dancing to the jew’s tune, removing the ridges to appease the insult to the jews is supposed to be funny. Or something. There’s no practical purpose anymore (except in cases of blind people).

IIRC, it was Isaac Newton that started it in England. Clipping wasn’t just the work of a “certain tribal group.” It was a widespread problem.
It was considered Treason and Newton had Clippers hanged, drawn and quartered. Neal Stephenson’s System of the World is partly about a Clipper.
Well it’s government so you know there’s a Ridge Agency with the appropriate executive appointees and staff. This will probably reduce the cost of a coin by half
That’s a hoax but it’s symbolic of the currency debasement that Trump is pushing the Fed to do.
The OBBB is going to force the Treasury to borrow $ trillions by selling bonds. If the Fed does nothing interest rates will skyrocket. If the fed buys a lot of the bonds interest rates won’t rise and may fall.
The catch? The Fed has to ‘print’ (electronically) the the money to buy the bonds which debases the dollar and is inflationary.

Debasement of the currency has been going on since FDR when he seized all privately owned gold and upped the price to $35/oz.
Let me reiterate myself once again. Coinage now has the intrinsic value of a defective flat washer. But wait! Neighboring countries even make their coins out of steel!
The US made steel coins in WWII.
Nickels are the only coins left with intrinsic metal value, and it ain’t much. The new dollar coins have flat edges to distinguish them from quarters by feel, due to their similar diameter. Dimes vs pennies for the same reason. Da Joos aren’t manipulating Trump so they can clip zinc from quarters.
Since modern coins have no “precious metal” content taking the ridges away isn’t likely to make much difference as there is no incentive to shave coins anymore.
Hahaha, if I was a clipper, I would turn the ridges off in a lathe by pressure turning, then run a straight knurl back over the OD. Of course as a clipper that could do that trick, I would make more money working legit instead of a tiny bag of silver dust at the end of the day.
