  1. BIL had one of those. He didn’t have to change the oil for the last 2 years that he owned it since he added a quart every month.

  2. Had one car that went through oil due to bad valve seals (or guides), so I changed the filter every few thousand miles, and put the cheapest 30W in it I could find.

    • My first car was a hand me down ’61, Rambler 110, with 100,000 mi. They came with a flathead six and NO oil filter! I put a quart of recycled oil in every time I got gas. You could say it smoked a little(sarc).

  3. A green 1960 Plymouth Valiant inline 6 with a one-barrel carb. The only brake that worked was the left rear. If you hit the horn, the radio would turn off-n-on. I’ve made it a point of driving reliable vehicles since then.

  5. I bought a 9 year old truck from a plumbing company in 1981 for $400. I found out it had over 300k on the original driveline. The oil was black so I changed it and put 10w30 in it. It smoked like crazy. At a half tank of gas on 134 miles it was just over a quart low. It ran fine on 70 weight race oil. The big plus on the truck was a recent suspension rebuild. It got a rebuilt engine after a few months.
