  1. It’s the same in middle Tennessee, except we don’t react that way until the bill hite $250. THEN we turn the thermostat down, a little.
Butt hay, last week, I moved a pond turtle, a box turtle and a baby copperhead off the road BEFORE they were transformed by murderous rednecks in raised trucks, into dead. Last year I moved a large, ugly, prehistoric looking, snapping turtle off the road. the wife was freaking out, screaming at me to “GET RID OF THAT DAMNED THING!!!” I did, I put it on the pond side of the fence it was headed for. Disclaimer: Don’t try this at home (or in the road) unless you’re an experienced, obsessed, reptile geezer, like me.
I might save a human, after a brief question and answer session, if they qualify.
Critters get priority from me. But then, I’m old, cynical and grumpy.

    • Driving home in Texas one day and saw a turtle trying to get across the road. Stopped and put it in the car and my neighbor looked at it and said get the snapping turtle to the pond. Had no idea what a snapping turtle at that time.

  2. I mostly grew up with no A/C. Have you ever tried to wiggle into a pair of pantyhose when temps are in the 90’s and humidity in the 80’s? Only then will you truly know the toil. 😁

I am extremely grateful for our current geothermal HVAC system. Helps keep the electric bill reasonable.

    • I tried to wiggle into what was in those panty hoses when it was that hot and humid, I did my part to make it hotter and more humid…

  3. I grew up not far from Brownsville in the RGV without air conditioning in the house or either of the cars. The struggle is real.
