  1. growing up in philly as a kid. dear old dad used to take us back to his home in eastern ky for 10 days or so every summer. and there was all of the above.
lots of times, we didn’t want to go back home. life was a lot simpler and safer there
sometimes it was more fun catching the crawdads we used a bait than it was to go fishing. at 12, I think it was I was showed how to use blasting caps to catch bass
by a uncle of mine. a whole lot faster way to get dinner !
I get my grandson here for 10 days or so every summer, I try my hardest to make him wish he didn’t have to go back home too now.
he is 13 this year, so maybe we start teaching him to drive when he gets here,,
he turning out to be a better shot than his dad is already, so that’s one thing.
we see how well he does with a shotgun this summer, got some trap load for my old 410. unless he grown a bit more than he was last summer. we see.
so, yes all of the stuff above is very good for your soul.

  2. I learned to dislike the horsehair part, but I agree with the sentiment…maybe sub in sawdust?

  3. Yeeeessssss….
Right now my 3 mares are blowing their winter coats out and are absolute whores for a grooming. And I am happy to be the one who makes their trampy hearts happy by brushing them ’til they decide they’ve had enough for the day.
Horses will always be better than people, IMO.

  4. As always “Just rub some dirt in it” and move on. LOL good medicine, especialLy For kIds and paranoid so called adults.

    • When I was nurse and working I use to tell moms to take their kids to a barn yard to play when asked about making sure they have a strong immune system and reduce allergies. If gives a kids immature immune system something to do and mature to a strong response for later in life. I was raised on a cousins farm working my ass off with goats, sheep, pigs, cows, chickens, horses and all of them crapped everywhere. I even drank out of horse troughs when thirsty…
