Betcha my next paycheck that it’d take a lot less that 1kA.
We used to call those slow-blow fuses back in the day. I believe the rating on those is about 100 Amp. Cheers.
Yep, according to The Fool’s Guide to Fuse Replacement.
250 amp is also available in larger sizes.
I don’t get it. Is there a problem here?
There is not a problem, just flipping crap at Phil with his Sprite. The Sprite is a time and Money sink…
I will admit to having wrapped a fuse in tinfoil a time or two. Don’t know how much amperage it would carry and at the time didn’t care.
Back in the day, I remember my dad cutting lengths of 1/4” copper tubing to use in his car. Good conduction.
The 76 Fiat 124 Spider I had back in 79 had a third of the fuses wrapped in aluminum foil. Every freaking wire in that car was red. That car taught me DC electronics over 2 years. That is how long it took for me to rewire the entire car. Critters had gotten into the wiring harness and chewed up some wires.
Uncle told me of a guy that used a 22LR in a fuse box…. once.
It’s what you use when you’re trying to find the shorts in the harness.
Are those British Standard fuses?
From experience, a foil from a cigarette wrapper is good to about 30 amps. I had to get the bike going and off the shoulder of the road more than once in the toolies way back when.
I had a 76 Honda Civic CVCC, there was one fuse, looked like a metal strip, that seemed to have all the power go through it, when it blew the car would not run.
I used a paperclip that worked fine, carried a bunch of them for when it blew.
What ever it takes.
Just a quick question, would a chinese fuse bolt be rated lower than domestic? Need to know just in case.
