One step forward, two steps back as usual but I did manage to use the old Smithy today after I messed around trying to get the slop out of the table.
I was about half successful doing that as you will see.
What I forgot to mention is that there is a Split Nut under the table for the Lead Screw that has a small screw up in one corner you can tighten to squeeze the Split Nut together and that takes the Back Lash out of the threads in the nut.
That little screw had backed almost all the way out.
But I did make some progress today.
I got some T Nuts shaved down for my little Rotating table so that I can proceed to the next step towards getting the Z axis DRO mounted.
Looking good, man.
Phil,
Is a Smithy worth buying new? As you know I am 62, and a number of years before I can retire, but have been thinking about how to keep busy after I retire.
Is this Chinesium crap (assume it is)
The newer ones are very much worth having if you have limited space.
They have upgraded the shit out of them.
Are they pretty, shiny chips?
Based on the next post, it begs the question of whether you checked the wormhole dramafig contabuthreads.
