    In my dad’s cars you turned the dome light on by turning the headlight knob.
    Or opening the door I guess, but then he had worse things to worry about than the light coming on.
    Like having to explain to mom why your brother almost fell out of the car while he was driving. True story.

    • You might want to inform the young ‘uns that go to this blog that seat belts were not mandatory in vehicles until 1968 – Title 49 of the United States Code, Chapter 301, Motor Safety Standard, which took effect on January 1, 1968, that required all vehicles (except buses) to be fitted with seat belts in all designated seating positions. And now you know.

  3. You sat in the back seat, still, and were quiet. You did not want the ol’ Man or Mother (for that matter) to have to say anything to you about being a distraction.
