This is a false choice. When it’s the only game in town and you have no choice but to play, it’s not tacit approval to do what you are forced to do. I remember some years ago when there was a lot of negative sentiment about the new TSA. When asked about the process and how it was mandatory, the DOT person said something to the effect of “Well, people have a choice. They can always walk to California.”
When the choice is to cash the gubmint checks or die, you cash the gubmint checks, even if you don’t approve of the system.
