  1. 71 is not that old from my point of view. But as we always have to ask now “was he vaxed?”

    • Well, yeah. But anabolic steroids do a real number on your heart too.
Either road, RIP, Mr Hogan. I’m sorry he’s gone.

  2. The grim reaper sure is putting in some overtime this week, isn’t he? And we have two days yet to go.

  3. Chuck Mangione passed two days ago, for those who don’t know the name, he was a legendary jazz musician with over 30 albums, been playing music for over 50 years.

    • This passing is sadder to me. He had some GREAT music that hit the pop charts, not strictly jazz.

    • Well shit, I hadn’t heard about him at all until I read this. He was an excellent flugelhorn player, and did quite a few great pieces of music. Probably best known for the title track from his album “Feels So Good” back in the 70’s, which represented his biggest mainstream success, but he had quite a large library beyond that. He was also, rather amusingly, the subject of a running gag in which he would make periodic cameo appearances (in animated form) on the show “King of the Hill”.

        • I have to say, I think it was great that Mike Judge (I assume it was his doing) was a fan of his, and chose to make Mr. Mangione a sort of inside joke on the show by having him make random appearances now and again. I also think it’s really cool that Chuck was good natured enough to play along with the gag and let the show have a few laughs at his expense.

  4. RIP Hulkster. And I watched Mangione in Rochester NY before he hit the charts. Great musician.

    • Yes, George Kooymans, after a protected battle with ALS. There’s a thread discussing it on another site I read. I think I find his passing a little bit harder to accept than Ozzy’s, as I really like Golden Earring. .

  5. Comforts me that Hulk was born again and baptized publicly about a year and a half ago, what a character he was. Thunderlips!

    • Good to hear!
His conversations with son in jail sounded like he drank the local kool-aid….after all, Clearwater is the “spiritual HQ” for a certain cult that attracts the rich-n-famous types.
      R.I.P. the Hulk
