  1. What was the first thing that came to mind?
Was it “So long, and thanks for all the fish!”?
Or was it “Fuck, that’s a lot of dolphins!”

Or are you like me because all I could think of was “ping…..”.

  2. Gods creations are magnificent. Documentary junkie but have never seen that before.

Thanks Phil, some day hope to travel north up the coast starting in your area for some whale watching.

  3. I experienced this up close back in the late ’80s. I was sailing with my family in Southern California from Long Beach to Santa Catalina Island and in mid channel I could see up ahead what I first thought was an oil slick, a huge dark patch on the water which stretched for miles. As we got close, we could see it was moving, dramatically. We eventually sailed right through a pod of dolphins like in this video, only they were swimming more slowly, not breaking the surface as often. The only thing more breathtaking than the sheer numbers, was the animals themselves. Most amazing were the young. They looked like fat sausages, not as long and sleek like the adults. Unforgettable.

  4. I have seen this just offshore Johnson Beach National Seashore a couple times. It is really something to see. One of the best open beaches left that is not taken over with high rises

  5. Just awesome. We were snorkeling in the gulf once and a flight of pygmy devil rays went right through where we were. It was awesome too but there weren’t nearly as many as the dolphins but they were swimming pretty slow. You could reach out and touch them.
