  1. To be fair, the Injuns violated every treaty they signed with the US government.

    Every one.

Remember the first episode of “Little House on the Prairie?” The Engles get chased off of their homestead because they are not allowed on Indian land.

Meanwhile, Indian tribes were raiding, slaving, killing, yada yada yada and not following the rules.

Yes, we (the US) screwed them. But they screwed us right back, and usually before we screwed them.

We (the US) finally got really tired of the collective bullshit and got done with it all.

And even then, are we really still oppressing them? The answer is a very loud “NO!”

If you are a certified member of the tribes, you get $2,000 per person in your family a month, along with welfare, Medicare/Medicaid, and all the other government handouts. Well, actually, you may not receive much as usually it goes to the tribal council and then filters down to the recipient. Piss off the tribal council and they keep your money.

And the Tribes are fiercely controlling of who is in the Tribe. No genetic scans allowed. Must show in writing that you are descended from someone on the ‘founding rolls’ when the reservations were created. Got that? There’s no way to actually prove you are one of them. They determine who is in and who is out. And they regularly eject people who are trying to fix the broken system by suddenly finding that the disaffected people are in fact not actually tribe members.

Yeah, raw deal, yada yada wah wah wah. They screwed us as much or more than we screwed them.

And this isn’t anything new. They’ve been stabbing Europeans in the back from the first time Euros stepped on American soil.

One of the main reasons Euros were able to get any toehold onto the continents isn’t because Euros were fundamentally better at killing, it was more due to all the Indian tribes were basically in a wholescale Indian World War since at least the 1200’s, if not from the first time they arrived here.

Seriously, someone finally got around to asking an Inuit elder why the Inuit stayed in the frozen north. Answer was simple, not complex like all the brains thought. Answer? They weren’t allowed into the warmer south by all the other tribes. First come, first served.

    Cry me a river. Wah.

    • I came here to say that.

I’ve been doing research on the Indian wars to try and write some alternate history sci-fi and I’ve been utterly unable to distinguish the evil Neanderthals I’d planned on using as bad guys from the Sioux.

The history isn’t hidden very well, it’s just not publicized much. Doesn’t fit the narrative of the noble savage being screwed by the evol ‘Mericans.

      • Yep. Cross the tribal council and suddenly you are a non-tribal member and they will threaten your family, including all your parents and grandparents and cousins and everyone who can trace ancestry through your ancestors.

        Corrupt much?

Any wonder why they actively deny DNA as proof and fight to keep DNA tracking and evidence even amongst their criminals?

And, really, most of them were and are quite destructive to the environment. Have been and always will be, as long as they stay stuck to their ‘heritage.’

I mean, my heritage includes murder, theft, mass death, but I don’t embrace that part of it. I embrace the food and the good parts. I acknowledge the bad, which is something most of the ‘natives’ will never do.

And, Angus? Still working on that story? Been looking forward to it.

      • And youcan always twist the story. Have the US Cavalry ‘rescue’ the Neanderthals from the ‘peace loving, eco-friendly’ Sioux.

Seriously, what would happen if one of the cav Lts finally gets to communicate with a Neanderthal leader or shaman? Suddenly a whole different picture of what is going on appears. How does that change the Army’s reaction, and, of course, the Fed Gov in Washington?

Suddenly the need to ally with the slopeheads becomes a needful thing, maybe?

  2. Y’all should try living amongst the savages like I do.
It’ll open your eyes I’m here to tell ya. Pretty much free everything
and the booze and dope never end. One last thing, they hates the white devil too.
Whitie created all their problems and they needs more monies for the tribal corporation.

    • Saw some Res-Life when I was a kid. Then I saw the turd-world environment of Ebeye Island in the Marshall Islands and, sadly, the Marshallese were better people than our noble savages. Better outlook, far less substance and domestic abuse, and far more in touch with their natural environment while living in the modern world.

Current Res-Life? There are cycles of deaths from Hanta virus. Because they won’t keep their places clean and won’t treat the secondary effects and infections that are the killer parts of a Hanta infection. But treat with ‘white man medicine’? That goes against ‘tribal council’ rules (of course the tribal leaders get all the medicines they want and need, in a very turd-world existence.)

  3. I never expected less from the white man.

Indian, hunt and fish all day make war at night with enemy or squaw. Squaw cook and clean all day. White man screwed it up.
