  1. Yep $40 to fill up at half a tank and that’s in a car with a 12-gallon tank.

  2. Gotta love it when the pump stops at $100, and you have to run the card again just to fill up. $140 in an F250.
I have to travel again next week to a funeral, and I’ll be taking the wife’s Honda this time.

  3. Sigh! First car was a 66 bug, 3 bucks to fill it when there was a gas war on (25 cents/gal) between 3 mega gas station on the corner a mile from RIT. How I miss the early 70’s (pre oil scare). Yeah, 100 dollar cars, miss those too.

  4. My first car was a 1960 ford, paid $75 for it. Gas wars. I worked for my brother in law at a Walts gas station in lubbock texas in the mid to late 1960’s. I remember gas getting down to five cents a gallon. When gas was normal pricing, no gas war going on, guys would come in, give us a fifty cent piece, and say give me $0.50 of regular. At a quarter a gallon, that made 2 gallons, and those cars were lucky to get ten miles to the gallon.

  5. Back in 1982 of therabout I bought a 1972 Dodge Charger with a 318 under the (very long) hood from a fellow up the road for 100 dollars and drove it home. Wish I could find a couple of them today for that kind of cash

  6. I remember my Dad bitching back in the late 50’s because gas had gone from 11 cents to 13 cents!

The value of my Motor Home (97 gallon gas tank!) has quadrupled in value!

  7. My next door neighbors are boaters. Up until last year they’d be off to the ocean every weekend . This year, not so much. They’ve only been out once.

  8. Look on the bright side. Couple years ago I splurged on a bottle of snooty single-malt. Had to think about it, because it cost two and a half tanks of gas. Last week I checked on the price of that same whisky. Now it’s only 80% the cost of a tank of gas!
