  1. James Ballou Hawkins, born in Onieda County, New York, 1847. Joined the Texas Rangers in 1874. Later became Sheriff of Custer County, Montana. Died and was buried in Dillon, Montana at the ripe old age of 88.
    Only rode one side of the fence his entire, well-lived life.

  2. I like that no-nonsense knife he has. Add another soft 75lb.s to him and you’d have another Glen Filthie.

    • I suppose in the post-apocalypse world, I might lose enough weight to get that thin. I don’t know where I can get a button-up shirt with no collar either. I suppose they’re still around, maybe a hipster look. I’d have to dye my beard – too much grey in it now.

  3. That rifle, revolver combo in 44-40, unbeatable. That rifle got velocities as high as 1200+ fps. That’s near magnum power.

    • 1873: The year the .44-40 Winchester centerfire cartridge, the Winchester Model 1873 rifle and the Colt Single Action Army revolver were all introduced.

      Throw in the fact that it was also the year the .45 Colt cartridge came along and it was an amazingly historic year in firearms and cartridge development.
