That’s your every day maintenance
Warehouse pickers are worked to a frazzle but…
The “Rude Awakening” you hear so much about.
I’m going to bet it had something to do with last night’s partying….
Almost a sure bet, KurtP!
And the alcohol/drugs still circulating in his bloodstream, besides the lack of sleep. Though sleep deprivation alone is a big enough killer.
I worked in warehouses for decades, apart from truck driving, people who could only find work in the storage/transport industry often resented the somewhat unsociable hours that they were forced by circumstances to work, and simply refused to play safe, still partying into the early hours then going straight to work. They were often drunk or still in a drug trip, you needed eyes in back of your head and a keen ear so that you weren’t killed by someone careless about the safety of others around them. I’m still amazed that I wasn’t to witness deaths from drug/drink (or both) affected workers on forklifts or machinery, but there were many accidents that damaged walls, cold-rooms, doorways, shelving or goods when workers couldn’t see straight. Fools, drunks and druggies had their own personal guardian angel on the work shift beside them.
