“Why would I want to fit in??”
Exactly.
That’s my favorite poem of all time.
I read part of it to my mom way back when I was a kid.
Man, you wanna talk about some wailing and gnashing of the teeth. She lost it. Started yelling that that’s about not conforming. But I was the black sheep and never changed.
The guy talks about what’s around the bend. What’s over the next hill. Again, that’s me. No, really. It’s the reason why I moved where I did and live like I do. It’s what it is all about. This past fall I was with a friend on his boat duck hunting on the river. We weren’t seeing much and after a few hours he’s asking if I wanted to head back. No way was I ready to. I was seeing things I’d never seen before. I kept telling him let’s go see what’s down there, what’s around that bend. He finally said, “ you do know that we’re going against the current to get back and I’m thinking we may not have the gas to get there.”
Next he is asked about his business plan.
Well mine is simple. Minding my own.
Thanks for sharing this with us. It makes me laugh at my memories of a few of my life’s experiences.
That is timeless wisdom, right there, walking through life on your own terms, enjoying the walk and the experiences. I am glad most people do not think like that, saves the experiences for us that wander.
The men who don’t fit in are the offspring of the explorers that crossed oceans hundreds of years ago!
I agree with Keith. Those are the men that make America great. I’m not quite that hardy but I do like to explore that’s why I worked in R&D for 37 years.
That was very good! I admire and respect those men!
