Bought a ’64 F-100 in the late 70’s. Looking at the engine, I asked the salesman if that was a 352, me not knowing anything about Ford truck engines. He said, “Yeah, it’s a 352.” When I was putting new points in it, I was surprised to see a double set. I asked a guy I worked with about it and he asked about cross-bolted mains. I looked, and yes it was. Someone had put a 427 in it. It was a torque monster.
Sometimes, there’s just no substitute for plain blind shithouse luck…
1st car; 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie.
2nd car; 1963 Ford Galaxie 500. That one remains one of my favorites! What a CRUISER! The 390 did what 390’s were meant to do, and at idle was so quiet that I had to look at the dash to besure it was still running!
I currently own a 2004 F-250 crewcab longbed turbodiesel. I’ve read of people who have had lost of issues with the engine. Mine’s been pretty good. The truck’s built fine. The issue was with Ford trying to get a diesel engine past the C.A.R.B. California can fuck up a 2-car parade…
’54,’54, ’55 Ranch Wagon, ’57, ’59’, ’63 Fairlane 260, ’65 Galaxie 500 390 three speed, ’67 Galaxie 500 390 2bbl, automatic – slug. After that I discovered sports cars. Then I got married.
I’ve owned two Found On Road Dead vehicles in my lifetime. A Ranger and an Explorer. Ranger engine seized at about 75K. The Explorer had a manual trans. which stuck in second gear at 2500 miles while I was on a cross country trip to western Michigan from central New England. Never EVER again.
That silver 63 T Bird is pretty nice. I liked that body style and that of the 67’s, for the older ‘Birds. I thought the suicide doors on the 67’s were just the tits.
76 F-150 is a sweet heart. Proper tire to height ratio.
65? Shit, I do more than that on the dirt roads.
While she would prefer a convertible, the old lady would look good in that 66 ‘Stang.
Port Hole T-Bird. My mother would commit whole sale murder for one of those.
I could have that 67 rack truck running in less than an hour, if you let me keep it.
A lot of nice old F bodies this week. I always had a soft spot for the F1’s. Nice collection Cederq.

I am glad you agree Leigh, I always aim to please, so please aim…
Leigh, that 65 speed limit sign was in km/hr for Fords. You’re welcome.
Love my 63 f-100 flareside. You’ve even posted it as part of the old truck posts.
I miss my 61 something fierce.
Crazy expensive and hard to find now.
Especially the short bed versions like I had.
Mine I miss was the 68 C-10 short box with a stove bolt six and three on the tree… I thought I was in king corn and high shit, had a heater/defroster in it.
Cederq, you and Phil frequently mention something called a ‘heater’ when talking about cars. Is that slang for a gun, or what? I’ll just keep sipping my icy beer, a fishing rod in the other hand.
Piss yellow deuce coop is my dream car. John Milner made me want it. Drove a 55 chevy in high school thought I was as cool as Bob Falfa except it was mist green 210 not black Bel Aire.
