I had a ’79 half ton. It had probably been ordered, since there was no carpet, it had a manual four speed overdrive transmission, and a 351m engine. I sold it for above resell value after driving it for ten years and putting over two hundred thousand miles. The picture of the ’79 grill looks like it is a photo of my truck.
Bought new 76 f250 3/4 390. Great truck except for cursed twin-i-beam. Traded in on 80 heavy duty 3/4 351M. Biggest pos I ever had. Wouldn’t pull your hat off your head. After that, I’ve stayed with GM.
you skipped the good stuff which was made before 1948
I have two of those. A ’65 F250 and a ’95 F150. The ’65 has a 352, 3 on the tree. The 95 has the 300 and 5 speed, OD. I gotta do I beam bushings on it soon. It’s a clunker when you change direction. But I like them both.
We’ve had both GM and Ford. Thankfully, no real lemons in the bunch. But I remember the late 70’s early 80’s trucks and some cars as barely able to lug themselves down the road. Remember the gas guzzler tax? Dad’s new ’80 Dodge police car had that on the window sticker. 318 with a 4 barrel carb. It wasn’t too salty, not anywhere near as fast as his 78 Monaco 440.
A late uncle, a farmer drove Chevy pickups until the late ’60s, then switched to Fords which he drove until be passed away. Perhaps the reason he switched to Fords after so many years was personal but it has always puzzled me.
It was probably the suspension. I’ve always found that the Fords’ ride was a lot smoother than that of the Chevy. Chevy always let you feel every bump in the road, Ford had a superior ride. The older I got, the more I preferred the Ford ride for both my back and my ass.
Nicely done Mr. Cederq.
Now, where are is Dodge? 🙂
Dodge, what are those? If I find them I will post them. I just found one for early GM products and hope to find more.
All fit to be framed and hung in the living room.
😉
Very good!
Why hasn’t this been created before?
Now, do the same for ALL other US made vehicles.
Make a cool coffee table book wouldn’t it?
