Woodgas SUCKS as a fuel.
And I am not sure a computer controlled car would run on it , and certainly it would be hard to make a fuel injected one do so.
Having said that , it ain’t all that hard with a car and a bit of work….
B, an older car or truck that is carburetor-ed will work on wood gas with adjustments. I agree computer controlled and EFI vehicles would not run well or at all. The point is to be able to get from point A to point F through all the other letters and then home, maybe not in comfort, but can carry a load, and not bugger out like a EV. Fuel is generally abundant and cheap
Woodgas is DIRTY though. It clogs carbs and causes lots of other issues. I’ve run a small generator off of woodgas and it is at best a poor solution. Better than nothingg, but not by much….
Ah, the good old days which included spraying the carb down with carb cleaner every few months. Points and condensers, timing lights. Probably a good thing I still have mine somewhere in the garage, not as bad as Phil’s, but will still take some time to locate.
Always wanted a 1955 jeep….seems like I have more of an incentive now.
Wood gas using charcoal reduces the crude tars and such in wood (eliminated making charcoal) and makes decent wood gas for a carborated gasoline engine.
You still lose a little over half the horsepower, but it works.
I’ve driven a V8 pickup truck so equipped.
Seems I need a 8 horsepower carb equipped motor for my generator to function properly using wood gas.

Any suggestions?
