Calssic ‘Da Yoopers’. That is my neck of the woods.
never had a chevy that bad, but I did have a few fords that where real junks of shit
one had a bad rear bearing that made the worse noise ever making a turn.
another one had a floor almost rusted away. you had to hold on the the wheel when you punched the gas or the seat would tip over ! the joy of cheap cars !!
even had a AMC gremlin that was a hoot to drive, fast and great on corners.
until it died. then came a bunch of sportscars. had a few MGs and one Austin.
bought a 600 dollar 79 VW sicrroco that was a blast to drive until it went tits up one night on the road. after that I bought a new Honda Accord. the first new car I ever had in 1991. it was great in the snow.
That’s the same car my ex-wife owned when we met. I spent hours removing stripped lug nuts to fix the brakes, and a long evening rebuilding the 4 barrel carburetor on her kitchen table.
My age tells me I should have never returned after the projects were finished. Considering the final cost of sending her down the road, it would have been cheaper to have given her a thousand bucks and hauling ass.
Hindsight is always 20/20. I have rebuilt some carbs on kitchen tables. Fun times.
I rebuilt a 4bbl on the porch floor.
I had a 72 nova that had many of those issues. Rear fenders had to be bondoed. ALWAYS had trouble with latches, drove me crazy. Even with a non-leaking trunk I had corrosion issues with the tail lamps, got many a warning ticket for a light out that only required a wiggle to sort of fix. Sure miss that car though. Had a307 we put headers on that I don’t think ever lost to a stock 350 in the quarter.
Ya hey dere, go Yupers!
So now you throw out bailing wire!!!!
ps Shoot the person who let that Chevelle go to waste.
Loved listening to Dr. Demento play that song by Da Yupers.
Dat’s ” Da Yoopers ” youse guys ! —ken
To explain: people in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan are referred to as Yoopers. Those guys that had the band from Marquette County called themselves that. They came up with several fun songs back in the 1970s the most popular one, especially this time of year, was called “The Second Week of Deer Camp”. Google them for more.—ken
