For crying out loud, it’s getting worse.
I have been so confused with all this medical crap going on and the appointments, questions and directions that I can’t keep up apparently. Even with this My Chart website they have that is supposed to keep all this crap straight, I see I still managed to get myself sideways today.
I knew I had an appointment for something today but I just discovered that I screwed up right nicely.
I thought I had an appointment for eyeball X-Rays at 10 A.M. to see if there is any metal in them before having an MRI.
Uhh, NOPE.
That’s on the 16th.
I have a 1 P.M. appointment for an Ultrasound.
So I scheduled a couple hours off with Sick Time instead of the whole day like I thought I did and now I get to screw around until Noon before heading out and will have to get my Time Off fixed for today when I get to work tomorrow.
I just texted the guy I work with who is kinda my boss but doesn’t have nor want the title and bullshit that goes with it to let him know I screwed up.
He replied that I am so confused because I haven’t been getting enough sleep.
I asked him what is this sleep thing he speaks of.
So anyway, shit.
Dazed and Confused, it’s a way of life now.
I hate the MyChart website.
It’s set up for their convenience; not mine.
I just keep a google calendar with all my med appts (many, many), where, with whom, and for what in army time
have missed one – yet
I’m even more old-school than Gerhardt, with an old-school paper calendar. I can’t keep track of anything when I’m tired and in pain without a calendar and lists. Like Santa Claus, “I’m making a list and checking it twice.”
I keep a calendar on my phone and try to keep it updated but the master calendar is on paper and held to the fridge door with magnets. Easy to make changes when place X calls you back and says we are sorry but the doctor won’t be in that week and have to change your appointment. Definitely agree with Gerhardt about using military time; it just seems to work better for me.
The My Care website, the Athena Healthcare websites and all the other darn medical websites all work differently and all require separate user names and passwords. It is confusing as all get out.
I use the “Calendar app” on my phone to keep track of appmts. That app on my phone has reminder options built in that you can set for up to two reminders. I usually set one reminder for a week before then another for an hour before or what ever the travel time to the appmt is. When the week before reminder pops up, I change it to the day before.
You can also use the “Reminders app” for the same thing although it only has one reminder option as to when it flags the reminder. You can however review the Reminders that have been set up, in a list by date, whenever you want.
Modern smart phones do have some nice features that one can use to aid an aging brain like mine or one that’s cluttered with too much stuff, again, like mine.
I also use the “Calendar App” for other important for me to remember dates like sibling and other family members birthdays.
YMMV
Being chronicly I’ll, I used to have medical appointments out the wazoo. Now, mostly, it’s just a couple times of year.
Like Gerhardt, Google calendar is my friend. Multiple appointments in multiple cities at different times kept everything straight. 2 or 3 day notice or more, directions, etc made everything easier.
And like Judy I backed everything up with a pocket paper calendar. $1 @ the $Tree back then, for 2 years.
YMMV
Good Luck!
If you don’t get the metal out before hand, does it rip it out in a hopefully direct direction, or through more flesh than desired?
Or does it not move it, just makes it a spot of molten slag?
Bummer being the first to experience Hmmm, we better ask these questions before somebody bursts into flame.
It doesn’t happen often, but every once in a while, Phil manages to post some good music. I’m thinking the drugs seem to have mellowed him out. He put up a love song.
If I was closer to town, someone would have called the cops.
My Wife is 20 + yrs beyond a double organ transplant, along with all the other issues that are brought on by that double edged sword.
She keeps her own meticulous records in divided spiral notebooks. Drs., Hospitals, clinics, nurses, Rx’s appts times procedures calls…everything. stacks n stacks of spirals from over the years.
As she says, ‘You have to be your own best advocate when it comes to your health (or life), trusting someone else could cost you both.’
