Because it can. With ten year old technology and fierce determination.
104 miles per gallon and 0-60 in 4 1/2 seconds, with a little turbo diesel.
Motherfuckers won’t do it because they are making Billions.

VW TDI diesel gets 72 mpg overseas (greatest little passenger car diesel engine, works great in Jeeps too), the American version got around 40+mpg, due to de-tuning per EPA specs. And then VW got sued by the EPA for messing with the mileage which was forced on them by the EPA.
It’s always been a scam by the oil companies and enforced by crooked courts.
Bingo!
According to Pops, if you didn’t sell your patent to the oil companies for a more efficient carburetor, you would ‘mysteriously die’ of unknown causes. This conversation was had before I graduated from high school, so that would have been the late 60s.
I’m with Eric Peters (epautos.com) here.
it’s the EV craze. TPTB love them some electric cars. Yet, a TDI (or even a hybrid) is the real answer.
Probably dead man walkin’.
I like EV’s reduces demand for gasoline saving me money.
I saw this over a year ago. Diesel can be made from used restaurant oils and other ways so it becomes very cheap if people decide to put in the work to create it.
Hope he’s got the money and smarts to avoid some mysterious death.
It would be nice for my ’86 Toyota one ton tomatuh, pick up to get that treatment.
It’s already a tractor, but it only gets 30+ mpg on the freeway, sub 70 mph.
That is Casey Putsch, Republican candidate for governor of Ohio.
Running in the primary against Vivek Ramaswamy.

Hope he wins
My 1989 Taurus SHO (3.0 L normally aspirated) gets 25 MPG in town and 29 on the highway. It’s paid for, so that’s good enough for me.
No, I’m not going to tell you you can’t build a 100MPG car, I just need to see it run AND do my own testing on it.
