      • Just of the story.

Investors are set to miss out on the second U.S. jobs report in a row due to the government shutdown, but there’s enough scattered evidence to suggest the economy is hanging in there.

With the shutdown now passing the one-month mark, the U.S. Labor Department probably won’t be able to publish the October employment report next Friday as scheduled.

The second postponed jobs report in a row has made it hard for investors and senior Federal Reserve officials to figure out if the economy is getting better or worse. Hiring had almost grinded to a halt by the end of summer, alarming the Fed enough to push the central bank to start cutting interest rates again.

  1. Country always survives. Expectations are our great nemesis so leave those at the door.

  2. It’s not just East Tennessee. North Idaho has the same problem with Californians. I’d guess it’s all over with housing prices climbing.

  3. I track the cost of groceries at some of the local places to do my own measure of inflation. Hamburger is up, but stew meat is down. It’s supply and demand, but if you get away from prepared foods and cook from scratch, and do as she said and adjust your diet based on what you can buy, you can save a bunch of money.

If you can, find a local processor or butcher shop that runs specials. You can get very good deals, but you need the freezer space, or you need to can what you buy.

She mentioned Vit D, but the stuff in the stores isn’t activated. You need to get in the sun to activate it. Take your shirt off and let your back and front activate the Vit D, face and arms are poor at doing this.

Invert the food pyramid for health. Stay away from carbs, sugars, and seed oils. Try for 4 weeks and be honest, no cheating. You will see a big difference, including reduced appetite. Many people see their food costs go down. Our bodies digest less when we eat too much. If you eat more than you need, some goes to fat and some is wasted. You may find the amount of meat you need to eat is much less than you think once your body makes the shift.
