Na, it the time when the days start getting longer!
And a happy summer solstice for Johno! Throw some meat on the barbie and celebrate.
Thanks, Greg. I wonder sometimes about this W word of which you fellas talk, also about the car accessory that Phil speaks of, a “heater”.
I suppose that my car actually has one, I’m just frightened that I’ll accidentally turn it on. So long as all four tyres are round and the aircon works, it’s good to go!
It’s good today, an ambient 34C for Christmas. Cold meats and seafood and salads are the go for a Southern Hemisphere Christmas.
Just happy I don’t live above the Arctic Circle and the days get longer after tomorrow. According to the Weather Underground report for my area, which includes astronomy, tomorrow will be 10sec. shorter here. It’ll be about a month before I can actually tell the difference in length of day.
Here in the great white north, a couple hundred miles below the arctic circle, The national weather service said sunrise was @ 10:13 & sunset was @ 2:46. The mountains are pretty much blocking the sun here and will continue to do so for about another month and a half. But I did have my sunglasses perched on my hat when I went to work just in case the poles unexpectedly were to shift. Once a prepper always a prepper.
So you’re pretty much a neighbour to Santa, many elves around your place? Deathray, I hope that you gift wrap a caribou leg to give to your dog on Monday 25th.
Best if it’s not still attached to the rest of the animal but, or you won’t see her again until February, maybe.
When I was in the Navy, my permanent duty station was in S. Newfoundland, Canada. I spent two winters there and remember January being similar to that. Actual sunrise was something like 8:30AM and sunset was around 3:30PM. Sucked balls going to work and back to barracks in the dark.
