I was in the Air Force and my first duty station was a Joint Services unit. I was the only AF guy in the shop. I had a Marine Gunny Sargent as a supervisor. He had a sign in his office that read “Don’t fight fair, fight to win”. He would often tell me his mission was to re-educate my military ass and give me the proper military bearing.
funny, my uncle jack, also a marine gunny told me the same thing
many years ago. he often said the only fair fight is one that YOU win. that was when he showed me a lot of nasty fighting skills he learned while he was in the marines. he served with Chesty Puller
from the “canel” to Pelieu then got sent stateside to teach the ones that ended up landing on Iwo.
found that out on day when I asked who the guy was in the pictures with him on the wall.
“Old age and treachery, overcomes youth and skill, every time

I thought fighting fair is a no no at any age.
Win at all costs.
