Crazy would have been if he didn’t wear the helmet. Goggles might have been useful too.
I’d have a Nomex drag racing suit on and goggles as well. He’s pushing the ragged edge of meltdown and or KABOOM!

I have seen a single engine of that type mounted on a 12′ jon boat. It was too much for the boat.

I had a second look. It only takes seconds to get those pipes cherry red, then to white hot, with the glow lighting up whatever he passes.
Obviously, out in the desert there are less insects, or you’d hear them homing in on that big bug-zapper, so he got away without goggles.
He had/has a ton of crazy crap on utube, but I think they decided to protect the children from some of it as part of the bubble wrap the planet BS.
