He sounds like a dime store John MacArthur. John MacArthur would never have preached such utter nonsense.
If God has told His chosen ones to not forsake the assembling together, and a human says it’s just fine to not go…who are you going to believe.
Yes, he does have a point about benchwarmers not being part of God’s ecclesia, but let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Hebrews 10:25
The phrase “not forsaking the assembling together” comes from Hebrews 10:25, which encourages believers to continue gathering together as a community. This verse emphasizes the importance of encouraging one another and maintaining fellowship, especially as one anticipates the day of Christ’s return. It serves as a reminder that gathering together is essential for spiritual growth, support, and community within the faith. The verse highlights the significance of spurring one another on toward love and good deeds, reflecting the communal aspect of the Christian faith.

If the “Church” in question is providing COMMUNITY, Teaching the whole of the Bible (not a salad bar for the pleasure of the seat warmers) serving each other as Christ showed by washing the Apostles feet and actually doing what the WORD says then it’s the church mentioned in Hebrews.
Otherwise, it’s a stumbling block to be shunned.
The church in Laodicea, mentioned in Revelation 3:14-22, is known for its lukewarm faith and lack of commendation from Jesus, highlighting the spiritual apathy of its members.
Is it a doer of the word church or a comfortable place to have potlucks?
Amen
Those that have issue with those words need some reflection time in prayer.
Garbage.
i wouldnt say garbage, sounds like a tune-up for those that might forget why they are there.
He would have much harsher words for my practice of faith, but that’s between me & God.
I believe that you should find a God/Word centered church and attend it if you can. But God is wherever you seek Him at.
“The evil that Men do” is easy to identify and avoid. THAT is worldwide, as is God’s work.
Amen on Sunday morning!
Not to be pedantic, but the word he wanted was not “inoculate”, but “inculate”.

One’s church should be a center of learning, praising God for His Son’s great and Eternal sacrifice, and for “meet and greet” (if you will) for all the members. It is where you renew your covenants with Him (the Sacrament) and receive propitiation for your sins upon condition of repentance.
As pointed out by the author, it is NOT a place you meet with others to be comfortable in your sins, never repenting nor working towards your and others’ salvation.
The other day I sent an email to that days daily devotional author for a well written piece. During the exchange I cracked a joke about the herd bolting for the door as soon as the sermons are finished. She responded in a way to me she thought she was the only one to notice it.
PS: Long ago a friend told me about Alan Jackson, no not the singer, of World Outreach Church, Murfreesboro,TN, he is the real deal and real good. You can catch him online or 9:30 am CST on TBN. I highly recommend a watch or listen
