That is not normal, right?
I am not sure because I do not have my engine running while the hood is up.
Must be one of those 2000 watt output alternators I have heard about.
How do you check the bearing oil if your hood is not up and the engine running? I can’t tell if you are serious or not, no, it is not normal even for a high wattage alternators for it to glow like that. It appears the stator windings are shorted out and on fire. That is not a good thing, it could cause an electrical fire in the rest of the wiring loom for the car or truck and eventually the vehicle burning up
What bearing are you referring to?
I thought that the alternators have sealed bearings so as not to need to check oil for them. Like the ball joints and struts under the car now a days.
I wonder what that sounds like and smells like?
