Camping Saturday, resurrected…

Some of the “camping” pictures contributed by Don’t mind me, to spur me to get on my ass and get Camping Saturday back… Geesh’ Can’t take a break.

Sent in by The Jannie, our UK cousin from 1992, Bedford CF Autosleeper. One is a motorhome rally,
Waiting for the ferry at Folkestone on our way to the French Alps. The CF was fast and fun to drive but so thirsty. Thanks Jannie for sending these in.

  1. The Stude looks good. I should get on the shell of the 1914 Stude I bought 18 years ago and at least build a roadster out of the touring…

  2. Feeding a bear? Dang!

Had to look up the accordion shelter. Looks like they’re designed for emergency use, but some varieties are intended for temporary “housing”. Nifty idea, actually.

That sea of tents and shelters looks awful, even if it were bone dry. Must be some sort of festival – I can’t imagine anyone “camping” that way without some other reason for being there.

    • Had the pleasure of observing a friend “close enough” once.

Amazing how many rookie campers in that pic who did not first observe for high ground.

      Good set Cederq

  3. In my years of camping as a Scout Leader I created a classification system for breaking camp and leaving and I have seen all of them.
Class A) Carefully clean and stow all gear while breaking camp so it’s ready to go
    next time.
Class B) Take everything down, throw it in the car and clean it up when you get
    home.
Class C) Same as Class B except drop all the camping gear in the next dumpster
you see on the way home with no intention of ever going camping again.
Class D) Just go home and leave all the gear behind.
Class E) Just go home and leave all the gear and some of the people behind

    • Sadly, through LONG experience, Class A is the only way to Do It Right. Unless everything is wet and dirty (and most of my Scout campouts were!), then Class B takes effect. Dry it out in the garage or on the clotheslines (remember them?) and then repack it.

Oh, how I’ve been tempted by Class C many, many times. Class D and E sound promising, but I ;like camping too much. Or, at least, I did…Too old and I like my Glamping too much.

  5. Always nice to view the camper post. Would be interesting to see some more pics of the interior of the RV’s.
