Remember when we could actually tow with a CAR? I mean, as a kid, we towed a boat, utility trailers, etc. with cars all the time. Didn’t have a RV back then, but that old 72 Chevy station wagon with a small block 400 could run and run and pull damn near anything. Damn sight better than the 63 Ford F-100 with a straight six and 3-on-da-tree.
Nowadays you go to a RV park and it’s all F-250’s and Chevy 3500HD’s as far as the eye can see. Of course, 99% of the cars today are FWD and totally unsuited for towing anyway, but still.
What model is that Ford multi passenger Van Truck?
I drive a Chevy C3500 single wheel rear end, and a cab only model and 8 ft bed, no HD, no 4wheel drive, a bare bones 1 ton.
18 the coolest looking of them all, but all cool
The last one, “I am”.
It was an A-Frame camper before the franks and beans kicked in…
I like the way the boat fits perfectly on the roof of the first one.
DEFINITELY a well-done match to the station wagon!
To All; i look at those pictures, the ‘antique’ 2-wheel drive station wagons, trucks, and cars of 50-70 years ago (whose ‘technology’ would still be sufficient nowadays if it weren’t for ‘regulations’) and i weep for what was lost. Such beauty overlaid upon that which functioned well can only be made in a society that trusts one-another and has an optimistic expectation about what the future will bring. Sad.
Exscarecrow
Can’t say’s how I’ve ever seen a Ford Econoline van set up as a 5th wheel!
Artist’s rendition, more than likely.
That is a true Econoline Van with an extend bed. They made those out of Ford and Dodge van chassis.
