That old stove with the warming oven & water tank on the side is just like my grandmothers. Mine now. Need a new home/cabin for it.
Some nice cabins in that set. Love the stove in #4 photo and would love to have one. Husband’s grandmother had one similar.
Watch the Barnwood Builders series, those boys know their old cabins and barns!
I just wanted to drop a line and say how much I enjoy your pictorial tributes…cabins, tractors, trains, you name it…some really nice collections.👍
Back when family ranch was intact, we had access to a concrete block cabin that was very similar to those pictured. Three rooms in all (two rooms converted from existing enclosed front porch. This conversion had an interior bathroom and bedroom with two bunks.
The main cabin: A kitchen counter on one end with sink and wood wall cabinet above it. A refrigerator on left end of that, a cooktop on right end. A red painted wood glass fronted pantry behind the stove. Then doorway to the 2 rooms described beyond, than the rest of wall with two bunks. The opposite cabin end had 4 bunks, with ladder between them to access the upper two. The remaining wall had a window, then potbelly stove, then back door, then another window leading to opposite end. Square red painted table with 4 wood chairs, and heavy plastic cover over table top. The wall cabinet, pantry, table and chairs had been in town previously, about 50 years old at the time.
Outside was sealed painted cmu block, the former front porch filled in with wood studs and T-111 siding. Both end walls were plain full height block. The back had a porch about 10′ wide full length which faced the cooking area with a concrete water tank from Aeromotor windmill supplied water.
All still stands I think, but since the families divided the property, we no longer have access to it. A lot of time during the 1980’s when Brother and I were single and had all the time we wanted to ourselves was spent there. Awesome memories still recalled.
Cabin with a wood fired hot tub and that patio, I’m good.
There’s some dirt poor there.
I’ll take white privilege for 200 Alex!
