I have used froe and mallet to handsplit cedar shakes. I’ve seen barn roofs that you can see daylight or stars through, and yet they will shed rainwater just fine.
One of the wierdest rides I ever got way back in my hitchhiking days was from a bunch of cedar pirates up in the Olympic peninsula. They stunk so bad I had to crack a window and sit with my nose next to it. On the other hand, the first thing they did when I got in was stuff a beer in my lap.
That open air church might be a tad drafty come October, but I could live in any of ‘em. I’m in the process of building mine on the 40 acre retirement compound. Progress is, as they say, running slightly behind schedule.
The church one resonated with me.
People often ask me how I can call myself a Christian when I don’t go to church. I always ask them where it says in the bible I must attend a building owned by a wealthy organisation to be a Christian. One that expects me to enrich them even further.
If you’re a Christian God is within you, you are the church and your money time and effort are best expended helping those who need it, not those who wish to profit off it.
Just need a place to gather, a shed or barn would do it iffn’ it is inclement weather and such.
FWIW, my pastor loved that photo of the come-as-you-are open air church. You should consider an old churches/places of worship theme sometime. Not everyone
is allergic to churches and places of worship. best, redclay7
Redclay, I just might do that, thanks for giving me your idea. It will have to be old churches and small, don’t do modern and glitzy. If you have noticed a theme through out my posts, OldTrucks/Trains, Chevys, Fords, Campers, Cabins, etc… all are older and especially unusual and not House and Garden Fresh… I am a Luddite that uses some modern contraptions. Thanks for commenting, hope to see more of your thoughts!

Yup, and yours is the one with weeds and trees overgrown… with no indoor or outdoor privy.
