I have a drawer in my rollaway full of them. Love the adjustable auger bits with the side cutter moveable to make any diameter bore. The one in the picture needs Phil’s tender, loving rust treatment.
Pointy end down. Lovely. It’s a burglar alarm device, right?
I have a couple of braces, plus a complete boxed set of bits. If the bits are sharp, you can bore a hole pretty darn quick.
Also have a couple of egg beater drills as well as a couple of push drills.
I collect and sometimes use antique and vintage woodworking tools.
Used them plenty of times making through bolt holes in the top part of power poles.
I have one and a few twist bits in 1″ dia. I have a flat blade set that I bought for my power drill that I could use is a pinch. I also have am eggbeater that picked up at a yard sale years ago for small holes.
The flat wood bit is intended for power tools.
