When I go to camp, that’s one of the main reasons why I go. No traffic or most other human generated noises. Chain saws yes, occasionally, off in the distance and not for hours on end.
I live in farm country these days. Very peaceful and quiet….. Especially when I don’t wear my hearing aids.
Hahaha! That’s me!
Your not in the country yet asshole.
I lived in the Low Country of SC for a couple of years. Right across the road was a railroad track, but the noise never bothered me. I slept very peaceably during that time, even when my husband wasn’t in town.
Where I live now, I’m in the middle of a small city. It’s an old neighborhood, both the age of the homes, and the owners.
The only time there is loud noise that bothers me is during Fireworks season, or when an occasional tenant gets the idea that throwing loud parties is a Great Idea!
That doesn’t go on long before the local cops explain to the tenants AND the landlords that the community is NOT Party Central.
Today, because I’m just 6 days from my knee replacement surgery, when my husband left to get some errands run, he closed the front door but didn’t bother locking it. It’s a really quiet neighborhood, and I feel totally safe.
That’s one thing many people don’t think about when planning on buying a home – are the neighbors generally decent people? Do the lads wanting a little excitement in their lives listen to reason, and tone down the loud get-togethers? Would you feel comfortable asking for a small favor from a neighbor?
We were lucky – we’ve had good, though not in-your-face neighbors. It’s worth the time to build those relationships. We are a ‘mixed’ neighborhood – mostly White, but also some Hispanics, Blacks, and Asians. Working to middle class, mostly. I think it’s more important to be surrounded by people who work for a living, than to care about how much they earn.
