President Biden announced Sunday that he will step aside as the Democratic presidential nominee, ending weeks of hand-wringing among party leaders who urged him to leave the race after a disastrous debate performance left many Democrats fearing he was too old for office and unable to defeat former President Trump.
Biden’s decision opens a path for Vice President Kamala Harris and other possible replacement candidates, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, to hastily mount a campaign for the nomination ahead of the Democratic National Convention in mid-August.
“I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” Biden said in a statement. He will address the nation later in the week, he said.
He thanked those who worked on the campaign and Harris for being “an extraordinary partner in all this work,” but he did not endorse her to replace him on the ticket

There’s at least three states where, according to their election laws, the only way that the primary winner can be replaced on the ballot is by death or other incapacitation. ‘Course we’re talking about Demonrats here, so they’ll just ignore whatever laws they need to to get their candidate on the ballot.
Bribem is endorsing Cackles Kneepads Kamala, who, during her primary run in 2020 garnered less than 2% of the votes in each of the five states she entered before dropping out. Then there’s her just as embarrassing as Bribem’s stumbles bumbles and other faux pas on the National and International stages, since she was installed. She’s a joke and everyone in her party and internationally knows it. Demonrats are going to try like hell to give the nomination to ANYONE ELSE, but there’s still the election law thing they’ll have to overcome. The GOP should be launching law suits tomorrow to prevent that, but we are talking about the mostly gutless Republicans here.
