Looking at a 12VDC RV type pump as a backup to my hardwired well pump. Shouldn’t be hard…couple T fittings, few shutoff valves, a deep cycle battery & a trickle charger oughta do it. I’d put in a hand pump, but I’ve no idea how to keep it from freezing up for 8 months.
Had one of those things knock a tooth out when I was three or four.
I have a Horror Freight plastic one – it won’t last long, but it’s there.
I thought about those not to long ago. I know someone who has more than one well but uses only one. Told them they need to rig a manual on one just in case.
That hand pump like as not went to an underground tank. We were warned about cisterns when I was a kid. They were around the older houses my aunts and uncles lived in. Sure enough, one collapsed in on itself at my Uncle Grady’s place. They were hand dug holes that were sealed with clay.
