Bride and I checked that out. The website says they do not want residential/private gardens to sign up. (I forget the exact wording.)
Knowing how well government websites work, it probably won’t ask/verify the garden is a public space, and just automatically classify it as a public area and put it on the map. You would go through hell getting through the bureaucracy to get that fixed…
I think I going to pass on that invite. thanks anyway. I was talking with some people
today about starting up a garden. and also talking about gasifiers too
they are a auto shop with a lot of skill behind them.
made a point of it ,talking about the food and money problem this country will have
here soon. found out they do deals with a local farmer nearby. engine work for
food. chicken, eggs and fresh veggies, potatoes ,, etc.
they know I ex army and where asking be questions about stuff I know from the old days when I was in. pointed out a few good places to get the tools one might need if things go bad.
might start making gasifiers there soon,,, we will see.
nice to find like minded people close by, well inside of 5 miles anyway.
ya never know where this might lead too
Need evidence the pwrs that b want you to croak – no pushing gardens like in the world wars, no proactive measures. For the coughs if you got sunlight and lost weight you would have significantly lowered your risk, let’s not even talk about ivermectin (which I believe I was prescribed as an anti-malarial treatment one time)
The anti-malarial is HCQ (hydroxychloroquine), which was demonized by TEPTB (E for evil) along with Ivermectin. Both are extremely effective, along with the usual zinc, vit. D3, vit. C, etc., against the Kung Flu. Which is why they had to do all they could to suppress them. Because any available, off patent and cheap repurposed drug that works would invalidate the “Emergency Use Authorization” for the Notavax.
Winter is coming. America should have planted gardens Feb 24th, 2022
We have to wait until May up here in the Great White North because soil temp does not get up to temp until then. May-Oct is our season. Zone 4.
Look up heat tunnels, but you will have to heat it.
we have the same problem up here in the PA highlands
hell, a lot of times we still have snow in the shade around here. try hoop or tunnel houses if you are doing raised beds
I have found that black plastic works somewhat to warm up the ground here. have a roll of it, not sure what it was used for
but at 18 inches wide it does work out okay.
hoop tunnels kind of work like a cold frame.
Lucky warm weather guy, I’m in Zone 2. Just harvested my potatoes, last year we had an early frost and I found out that if you are growing in pots and bags it’s a lot worse. At least I got my greenhouse in this summer so I’ll be in a better position next year.
They were called victory gardens during the war and they will be back. My gut tells me in the right AO’s they will be community planted, cared for and guarded.
you are right about the guarded part. plan on it after this winter for sure. the problem will be both 2 and 4 legged critters going after whatever you grow.
P-Patches are pretty popular in some cities, and I learned about home gardening from my dad who could grow a bumper crop in sand and rocks with a thimble of water…
I did not inherit quite that level of skill, but here in the Valley we put in 4 water troughs, 8 X 3 X 2, using hugelkultur, raised above the ground on 4X4s over the last few years. We invested in good soil, watering systems (which are always in need of tweaking and repair), and purchase plants from local farmers and 4-H so we know they will do well here.
Even with the unusually wet and cold spring this year, intense wildfire smoke of the last few years, and pretty blistering sun and hot climate common to this part of Washington, we get some darned good harvests. What we do not grow we often buy right from the local farms.
I am adding row covers this year to extend the planting season by a few weeks on both sides of the seasons. I guess I am doing what the song said, “We’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden!” Ya dig?
Be sure to register your garden as a PEOPLE’S GARDEN with the USDA comrades.

USDA can bite me.
AMEN
