I just saw it from an Email alert from the LA Times.

Well?
Let’s hear the vaccination status.
He was one of the frothing mob who thought the intelligent people who were hesitant to be sent away.
Never liked Kiss, hated Gene but Ace wasn’t too bad on guitar.
Hear hea! KISS is not a band I ever developed a taste for, and Gene is a douchebag. Can’t say I knew much about Ace personally since he seemed to keep a low profile (as it should be), excepting his COVID idiocy. The larger takeaway is that the icons of the classic rock era are checking out at quite an increasing pace the over past 3-4 years. I was more bummed that Roster Hodgeson of Supertramp recently passed, as they remain one of my favorite prog rock bands of the 70’s.
I do wonder which iconic idol of the classic rock age will cause the biggest stir and collective display of grief upon passing. I have to imagine McCartney will be a huge one, and probably Mick Jagger. I would’ve expected Neil Peart to have been a big one at the time, but maybe the COVID crisis stole some of his thunder, as he died in 2020. He was a legendary class drummer, and Rush fans are a rabidly devoted bunch, so I was surprised the public outcry seemed rather subdued back then.
How the hell did autocorrect turn Roger into roster? No matter how careful I proofread, it always manages to fuck me at least once per post.
Maybe you meant Rick Davies? Roger would be surprised to find he’d passed on to his reward.
Bloody well right. What a dumb shit mistake on my part. It was late when I posted that, and was half asleep.
Fell off those big-ass platform shoes, eh?
Enough with the vaccine shit. He fell, had a brain bleed and the family pulled the plug. Had one myself from a fall and hitting my head on a concrete slab, but I survived. He didn’t. If you didn’t like KISS, Ace’s politics or whatever other bug might be up your ass, shut up and show some goddamned respect…if only for a moment. Thank you.
MMM…. No.
These are the same fuckers who openly wanted us dead.
Lifelong friends and family members broke off relationships over this. The best lesson COVID taught us is who we can actually trust and who is able to separate politics from friendship. This whole debacle was a very sobering lesson for each of us, and I am certain I am not the only one disappointed in people I have known for decades.
Again, these are the smooth brain dipshits who virtue signaled for the simple fact they were incapable of rational thought. I don’t expect any of them to apologize, and while it did hurt for a while, it now doesn’t matter.
I’ve gotta second this. Given the extremes to which the hard core maskerbaters and vaxxtards went in order to make life difficult and miserable for those of us who knew better, they’re lucky the worst we’ve done is hold a grudge.
There are many people who, to this very day, should be the recipients of a .50 cal facial for the way they conducted themselves. Fuck them, there will be no forgiving or forgetting. And yes, I will relish in the passing of those who I know for a fact we’re not only blatant authoritarian assholes over the subject of COVID, but effectively fucked themselves by taking the shots. Karmas a bitch, baybeee!
Sigh. I can’t argue with a thing you said. Hell, I subscribe to the same theories. And I’m not going to attempt to change your mind. It’s not mine to change, and I respect you enough as a sentient being to admit that. However, I still say you’re wrong…but I’ll agree to disagree and leave it at that. Good day, sir.
You’re right, JB. Ace was a rock star. Original Kiss. And for the haters howling about him promoting the vax… well, he didn’t. He got the clotshot yes, but didn’t hype it like Gene did.
Thank you! He wasn’t even a member of the band at that time. That was Tommy Thayer in Ace’s makeup. Hell yeah….you rule, dude 🤘
Ok, allow me to revise/clarify my earlier remarks. I wasn’t so much ragging on Ace specifically, as I was concurring
in general with Grumpy’s stated opinion of the hard core COVID karens. Thinking back, I have no recollection of Ace making any public statements on COVID. I should’ve done a better job of articulating this in the previous comment, especially being that the thread topic was Ace’s death.
So, barring his unfortunate choice to take the shots (which even if they did no harm, certainly did no good either), I’ve no real beef with him. Now, there were other heavily outspoken older rockers (like Gene) and other various celebutards at the time, who are on my permanent “asshole wanker list” for their unforgivable conduct and remarks during the hysteria. Those who were guilty of such conduct will forever remain objects of derision to me. Ace wasn’t one of them, so he’s cool.
No
I will never show respect for anyone that pushed the jab. They can all, each and everyone, rot in hell
If their music was any good, they wouldn’t have painted their faces to garner attention.
Went to a kiss concert at Maple Leaf Gardens in Trawna Ontario in 77? or so…I was 20…Bought the ticket from a scalper for 5 bucks…nosebleed section…went in…sat down…lit up a doob…the looks from the mummies and daddies there with their tweens was priceless…smoked my doob…stayed for 5 songs then left….meh
Ha. Reminds me of an outdoor concert Steve Miller out on back inn the late 90’s. I’d not have even gone, but a buddy of mine had 4 tickets so it became a double date situation. There were these teen girls sitting in the lawn section behind us swooning “we love you Steve Milller!” in an annoying sing-songy voice.
Now, I like most of Steve’s tunes, but don’t really care for concerts in general, as I’ve never liked crowds.. And that little detail just made it so over the top ridiculous, that I had to laugh, in between coughing from all the “ganja” smoke hanging in the air on that stale, humid summer night.

Ace at his best.

It’s fitting that his stage persona was the “Space Man”…he almost single handedly launched thousands of new guitarists back in the 70s.
Gene Simmons, aka Chaim Witz, Israeli born jew.
I worked hospital. Sometimes it’s a bleed then a fall, other times it’s a fall and a bleed.
There are plenty of ways to go that are much worse….
