The shuttle craft and the transporter beam were plot devices becuase they couldn’t figure out how to land a starship. Also, I would not denigrate the Enterprise or any that served on her but I know some people in the Navy Nuclear community and they called it the “Mobile Chernobyl”. The fact is that it was time for that ship to be decommissioned. They had to cut her up to get the reactor cores out and after serving so well she couldn’t even be made into a museum ship. A sorry end indeed for a great ship.
I didn’t know the shuttle craft had tailhooks, can they even call the ball with that canopy tint?

I served on that ship, 1971 to 1976. I was a nuc. At that time everything was in great shape. I enjoyed my time there.
