Amazing, It Looks Like It’s Held Up Better Than I Have

My Uncle texted me a little bit ago and sent this picture.

That is the High Chair my Grandmother kept at her house from when I was a baby.

My Grandmother bought it used from a neighbor when I was born so it’s older than I am even.

Probably 70 years old at least.

My Uncle said I had right of first refusal and that if I didn’t want it that it was going to a Thrift Shop.

I asked around and nobody wanted it so off it goes.

It’s not like I plan on having any kids at my age and I sure as shit don’t fit in it anymore.

I had no idea the thing was even still around or how they wound up with it.

Must have been in Granny’s stuff and has been moved from Coos Bay to Portland to Burns Oregon over the years.

  1. Heh! Some sanding and refinishing and good for another 70 for the next young family.

  2. My family still has the (wooden) high chair I grew up with. It’s GOTTA be at least 70 years old!

Yeah, but it has probably spent that time sitting in a corner somewhere while you’ve been working your ass off!

  4. Old stuff made better by high density grain structure in the wood and better craftsman.

I kept a couch that I sat on as a kid still in great shape after a couple upholsterings. Moving and most people said toss it. Fuckem I hate being such a throw away society.

There’s a reason gramma washed and saved her foil coming soon.

    • We recycled our bread bags, turned ’em inside out and washed/dried ’em. Even now I try to reuse Ziploc bags more than once or twice./

      Yep, we’re coming to that…
