This is jaw dropping incredible.
I would love to know what they sold it for.
If it were me I would laugh at anything under 40K.
They should have taken it to a Peterson Auction.

I’ve seen some stuff like this before. Something like 30 years ago there was a 69 Chevelle SS with a 454, still at the dealership, never licensed or registered, technically still a NEW car. I think that car went for crazy money at one of the auctions. Plus all the rumors and urban legends over years of someone buying something in the late 60’s, immediately shipping out to Vietnam, dying, and the family just parked it in the barn for decades before selling. Every kid in the 80’s dreamed of finding something like that.
As an adult, I start thinking stuff like dry rot on all the rubber parts, the oil thick as molasses and fouled in the crankcase, the vinyl seats cracking as soon as you sit on them, etc. Still a wonderful find, but I’d want a very careful rebuild before trusting it on the street.
Wholly SHIT
Phil, youda man, thanks for that.
While these finds are amazing, I can’t get past the idea of buying a fun car and not having fun in it. I finally got a fun, RWD V8 and I love driving it. They just announced the end of production for the car and the engine, and some owners are getting excited about holding the car as an investment. Dude, it’s a sports car! Drive that baby until the wheels fall off! If you want an investment, buy some stock.
Maybe it’s just me.
No, it’s not just you.
The parents of one of my childhood friends had a ‘64.5 Mustang convertible; red, with a white interior and top. The last time I saw that car was in 1977, and it had 3.6K miles on it. I can only IMAGINE what that thing would’ve gone for if it was sold!
