  1. Wouldn’t call a can of Crisco ‘inexpensive’….not anymore. But it is cheaper than buying candles. Might even be cheaper than buying wax and making your own candles.

  2. One of my grandmothers used to use her saved grease to make soap. It floated in a dish pan of water, just like Ivory soap used to.

  3. Just be careful with this around animals, children and drunks.

A burning Crisco “candle” can be knocked over to do a good imitation of napalm on critters and family.

Let alone the thrill of seeing your carpet and furniture flaming.

Got buckets of damp sand PLUS fire extinguishers friends? Flaming Crisco is apt to be blown across the room by a fire extinguisher, just saying.

SHTF PLUS a self-inflicted burning out of your home and preps, not good.

BTW this applies to ALL open Flame candles, lanterns and such. FIND a way to secure them as many Great Depression family stories were about how someone they knew lost their house or their Wifes housedress burned and so on.

  4. I used to make “tuna can” candles/heaters, they are really useful for camping trips.

  5. That’s the only thing Crisco is good for. I won’t allow it in my house. I use lard or bacon grease.
