EIGHT FUCKING PHONE CALLS!
In the last 6 days I have had to call the hosting company every day, sometimes twice, to try and get this fucking thing fixed.
As of this minute, it is functional. CederQ and I should both be able to post and the comments work again.
Unfortunately it appears that all of the images that have been posted in the past are gone and there are still some issues that need to be addressed but I win.
I am battered but unbroken.

Glad you’re back. Sucks to lose all the archives. WIsh I had some good advice about how to backup and restore a WordPress blog, but it’s been about 20 years since I messed with it. A lot has changed since then.
I’m aghast at what running this thing is costing you. Makes me wonder what it is that’s costing so much.
I had to dump another $400 into it in the last week. I have one more year of hosting paid for and I think that will be it for me. 21 years of blogging is enough.

Ugh! Now that the smoke has cleared, even though it isn’t helpful, I’ll state that I doubt the problem was malware. Typically, malware would try to hijack the site, and start posting gobs of spam-trap stuff, or porn, or other malware – stuff like that. But there are some attackers out there who simply get their jollies by just destroying things. Anyways, from what I remember, hosting companies don’t backup your site for you – that’s on you. For low-cost hosting, it’s a tradeoff that’s obvious, along with support that isn’t exactly top notch. For $1500/year, I’m still just boggled.
21 years is a damn long time. I can fully respect giving it up. Especially if it’s going to be a PITA like that.

Glad you’re back. Sad to hear all the history is lost.
I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if the hack or whatever it was came from the inside of WordPress. Far too many of the code savvy geeks are far left leaning and would do it just to “bash the fash”.
Relieved to see you guys up and running. That was definitely arduous.

I’m glad to see you back also! I’m also seeing my favorite sites have sidebars that are no longer updating with new posts…!? Makes me think some hacker/basement turd has gotten bored and finding ways to make seeing conservative sites more difficult…!? Speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
