it took me a while, but I got here. and no, I am not going back to living in any city.
life is a lot better away from all of the morons out there.
The “rock cabin” is pretty cool!
We’re gonna be living in cabins before too long…
I’ll take the one with the red metal roof, good for collecting rain water. Besides, there is nothing like the sound of rain on a metal roof. And nothing like the fresh smell of sheets straight off the clothes line.
That is one of my favorites too, it is snow country, those nubs sticking out near the bottom of the roof are snow guards, keeps the snow from sliding off the roof. I like metal roofs. I built a house when I lived in Spokane and had a metal roof and had to remove it when I was selling the house. Nobody wanted a metal roof! After I put up a cheap as ass three tab asphalt shingles, it sold within a week….
My father grew up in a rail road shanti resembling the 3rd pic down in rural British Columbia where grandfather tended a stretch of rail line from the 1920’s through the 40’s. He said every day sucked. All work and no play just to meet basic needs every day, every winter miserable.
A few months ago, some of the log structures with dirt floors still stand. The ground was hard as iron. Really cool to see, prolly a might drafty in the winter time.
They were tough people.
Some guys on youtube building cabins alone using basic hand tools. Pretty impressive.
Just *look* at all that White Privilege!
